Technical Tip: Waterjet Operator Checklist
An operator checklist is a list of action items that must be completed prior to the operation of a machine. These action items will ensure that the machine is in proper working order before it is switched on. We recommend filling out an operator checklist every time you run your waterjet cutting system. This will increase both the efficiency and safety of the machine. The following checklist is what we give to all WARDJet operators to prepare the machine before each job.
WARDJET OPERATOR CHECKLIST
Before every shift, performing a check of the waterjet cutting system helps to ensure quality and consistent cuts. Below is a list of suggested areas to take into account when performing the check.
___ Confirm that the area around the waterjet is clean and clear of debris.
___ Confirm that there is enough abrasive in the bulk feed hopper.
___ Check that the abrasive delivery system is clear of clogs and that everything is connected properly.
___ Confirm that the breather on the mini hopper is free of debris.
___ Confirm that the mini hopper is properly calibrated.
___ If you have a chiller, confirm that the unit is on and working.
___ Inspect the orifice and nozzle to make sure they are in good condition.
___ Confirm that the cutting heads are vertical.
___ Check your grates to make sure they are in fair to good condition.
___ Confirm that material clamps are available and in good condition.
___ Have a drill with a charged battery available for clamping.
___ Inspect the cylinder on the intensifier pump for leaks.
___ Have an air hose and water hose nearby for cleaning the part when cutting is done.
___ Have a fan nearby for clearing mist during piercing procedures.
___ Confirm that your high pressure gauge is working properly.
___ If you have a SmartRemove abrasive removal system, make sure that the air to the diaphragm is on and the
strainer is clear.
___ If you have a height sensor, make sure the brush is in good condition and calibrated properly.
